Webbing grips or Capstan fixtures are engineered for tensile testing of straps, ribbons, seat belts, slings and webbing. Safety in the lab starts with a protective shield or debris shield. The shield consisting of a fixed side and a hinged door side can be custom designed to fit any and all testers made by Instron™, MTS™, Thwing Albert™, Zwick™, Tinius Olsen™ and others. It places a protective shield between the operator and the breaking test specimen. The shield is constructed of shatterproof clear polycarbonate surrounded by aluminum framing. The door is fitted with a latch that can be configured with an interlock to help protect the user from moving parts on the test frame.

Shown is a an Instru-Met manufactured pneumatic grip. This is our 1000 lb capacity model featuring one finger operation with a built in air switch and adjustable sample thickness from 0-1/2″. These are manufactured from aluminum and stainless steel for years of trouble free operation. They are supplied with the industry standard 1 1/4″ clevis mounts with locking rings. Instru-Met can supply a full range of grip faces. Instru-Met offers many grips used with Instron type tensile testers and other tensile testers.
